Wow, this is incredible. Humans are beautiful and the most interesting bodies are the ones we never see, hidden away as if aging is embarrassing and beauty is only for the young. Not the case! Look at this body just celebrated in a beautiful light. I love the one with the necklace it is so touching and human but raw and glamourous. Great work.

Photographer Anastasia Pottinger sought to capture the beauty of an aged body with her collection “Centenarians,” a series of black-and-white photographs of the naked bodies of individuals 100 years or older.

“This body of work was born out of the opportunity I had to photograph a 101 year old woman who volunteered, on her own accord, to model nude for me. It was merely an exercise in documenting her form in a beautiful way,” Pottinger writes on her website. “When I later reviewed the images on my computer, I knew I was looking at something very special. It was when I began exhibiting the work that the idea to continue the series was born. The response to the images has been remarkable. Viewers are visibly moved by what they are looking at.”

She explained to The Huffington Post that her first model, Lucy Hall, initially wanted to remain anonymous. Yet when she saw the final product and the response to it, Hall agreed to come out and talk about the experience.

Pottinger is working with a literary agent on a book deal at the moment and is actively seeking more centenarian models.
